Gian grew up in the small town of Solothurn, Switzerland. He studied Chemistry at the University of Basel up to MSc level. During his studies, he conducted internships with Prof. Konrad Tiefenbacher and Prof. Christof Sparr. He undertook his Master Thesis in the group of Prof. Richmond Sarpong at the University of California, Berkeley. After finishing his studies, he worked as a researcher in the Group of Prof. Matthias Wymann at the University of Basel. Afterwards, he worked as Development Chemist at CSL Vifor. He joined the DJJ Group in October 2024 as PhD Student.
